Bend, Oregon, WEST Trip

So... my pretty-much-only vacation until my sister gets in at the end of September (please hurry!) was a three-days trip in central Oregon in a beautiful golf resort called "SunRiver". I can't care less about golf (at least so far, maybe I'll change my mind!), but everybody raved about the hiking, the canoing, the riding, the rafting. I decided to go up there a day earlier than the others to be able to go river rafting on the lower Deschute River. Which was worth every minute. Here's my super-confortable room at one of the many small lodges within the resort. My company organized the trip for their 20-th anniversary, and it was nice to finally meet people scattered in Washington or in Oregon, people that you see rarely or that you only talk to on the phone (generally, about work and only work!).
"100 channels and nothing on tv".
The white peak in the background is Mount Bachelor. It's is really pretty alone out there, so the name makes a lot of sense. Along the river, there is the national forest, the stables, tons of biking and hiking trails, and a small marina with canoes and kayaks.

On Sunday I went river rafting with some people from my company (Ken, Ray, his wife Susan and two kids), and it was so much fun! The water level was pretty high, so we got to see an entire "white river" coming from the glacier entering the Deschute. The guys kept jumping in and out ofthe water, but I only did it once when we were swimming through one of the rapids. So cold! Unfortunately, my one-time-supposed-waterproof camera was not really waterproof, so you have to use your imagination to see past the following pictures!

In compenso ho ancora vividi i ricordi, quindi niente e' perduto!

Here's me, Ray, and Susan. Ken was in the water taking the picture (or so it seems!).

We had a nice banquet in the main lodge on Monday night, I went horseback riding for a couple of hours in the forest on Tuesday morning, and Wednesday we were all back to work. At least, in body... (the spirit was definitely still in Oregon!).
