Cosa ho visto questa estate

This summer, I took a little trip to the coast for a day with my friend Emily. We stopped before Seaside, where apparently resides the largest sitka spruce tree in the country. It was damaged by a storm a few years before, and a few years ago it actually split down pretty badly during another storm and they cut the rest of it down. Still, a large trunk is still standing...



Questa estate sono andata con Emily sulla costa per un giorno e sulla strada per Cannon Beach e Tillamook ci siamo fermate a vedere il piu' grande abete rosso negli Stati Uniti. E' stato abbattuto da un temporale, sfortunatamente, ma e' ancora una meraviglia da guardare. E se la foto qui sotto non e' molto chiara, basta guardare me in quella piu' sotto e vi rendete conto di quanti piccoli siamo noi al confronto!


The picture above really doesn't convey how big this tree is... but look at me below and you'll realize how small we are in comparison.

Sulla strada del ritorno verso casa ci siamo fermate alla Tillamook Factory a mangiare formaggio e grandi gelati. E ammirare ancora tanti bei paesaggi dall'alto, come la costa vicino a Garibaldi qui sotto. Uno dei motivi per i quali l'Oregon mi piace sempre di piu'.

On our way back, we stopped at the Tillamook factory for ice-cream and cheese curds. And did a little snooping around to check out fudge and machinery. And here's how the Oregon coasts looks like... and why I like it more and more every day.
